Annual Military Inspection 2026

On January 21st, 2026, the entire John D. O’Bryant NJROTC Unit successfully accomplished their Annual Military Inspection that they’ve been working all school year for. From studying their military knowledge to perfecting their uniforms, these NJROTC cadets have persevered through the year and learned much of their skills from multiple leading senior cadets. We’d like to thank Mr. Washington, the NJROTC Area 1 Manager, for paying us a visit at the John D. O’Bryant and for creating such a meaningful experience for our cadets. It is truly amazing that these cadets get to experience and absorb the enthusiastic passion that Mr. Washington radiates. Moreover, we’d like to thank all the special guests and parents for coming to support the cadets. And, of course, this event was incredibly successful due to the commitment of the cadets. Their dedication and efforts are greatly appreciated and needless to say, all of their hard work paid off.

Additionally, we’d like to give a shoutout to Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade Nova for earning the meritorious achievement award given by NJROTC Area 1 Manager, Mr. Washington. Her outstanding leadership and achievements beyond her duties as an Administration Officer made her stand out from the rest of the cadets. In the cadet field manual, it describes the meritorious achievement to be “awarded, WHEN EARNED, to any NJROTC cadet who distinguishes him/herself only by outstanding meritorious achievement or performance of a meritorious act”. In other words, cadet Nova has shown great attitude and diligence towards the unit for going above and beyond to dedicate herself with exceptional individual acts. Her work in motivating, leading, and being an overall comfortable yet impactful person to talk to for other cadets in the unit, even during challenging times, has earned Nova the deservingly awarded meritorious achievement award. With this award being first of all ribbon awards in order of precedence, it means a great deal to earn this ribbon for cadet Nova.

As Nova shared in receiving this award, it’s truly surreal having this ribbon and showing me how far I’ve come in my three years of NJROTC. I’ve always strived to be someone who does her job but also knows how to carry skill and caution throughout her other responsibilities. Getting this award makes me want to hold myself to higher standards and expectations, always helping others, and to look forward on my path of service to others. Lastly, I thank my Administration team, C/PO3 Hilaire, C/PO3 Gardner, and C/PO3 Da Silva for being amazing XOs and supporting me throughout the school year. I couldn’t have been a great officer without my outstanding team! Please always look out for each other and care in the best way possible, your actions matter! All in all, we as a unit, are incredibly proud of the work cadet Nova has put into the unit, not just as an admin officer, but also as the uplifting senior cadet she is.

To end things off, we’d like to say thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Military Inspection of 2026 at the John D. O’Bryant. And special thanks to all the cadets for putting in their best work and always helping each other out. Keep up the good work and always remember to "be the best"!
