Kelsey Zhao
(Senior Advisor)
Hi, I’m the Senior Advisor cadet Commander Kelsey Zhao. I’ve been at the O’Bryant since 7th grade (covid group) and I joined the JROTC unit in 8th grade so this is my fifth year in this program. In fact, I was the first batch of middle schoolers to be in the program so I’ll be one of the first to graduate as an “NS5”. As the Senior Advisor, I’ve been through a term as XO and CO, sophomore and junior year respectively, so I’m simply here to offer advice and guidance whether that’s in the unit or O’Bryant in general since I am a senior. My goals for the unit this year is to make sure everyone is active in the unit and everything is wholesome. If morale and motivation in the unit is dropping, it’s my responsibility to make sure it goes back up. I know ROTC is intimidating for those new to the program so I’m here to make sure the transition isn’t as daunting as many make it out to be. Don’t be surprised if I show up to an event with goody bags for everyone (it’s what I’m known for) and most importantly, don’t be afraid to reach out to me. At the end of the day, I’m also just a high school student ike you guys so I want to make sure you guys had the support in this unit that I had when I joined.
Fun fact: I’m a figure skater and I did the morning announcements everyday for the 2024-2025 school year.
